Employers are really looking.
How do you search for a job?
Use the provided search engines, or take a peak at the Career Center Job Board (see the virtual list on this page). When employers are looking to hire, they sometimes call our school directly to post job openings. Also, stop by businesses close to your home, many family run boutique's, stores and restaurants are more willing to employ students who are under 18.
How do you apply for a job?
Depends...some employers have online applications, and others request that you pick up a paper application in person and return it to the store. Be sure to write neatly, complete all information requested and dress appropriately if you are picking up or dropping off your application. If you have not heard from the employer within a week, give them a call to check on the status of your application.
YAY, you found a job...now what?
Congratulations! If you are under 18 you will need to pick up the "Application For a Work Permit" from the Career Center, or print the file below. This application must be signed by a parent, filled out by the student and employer, and returned to the Career Center for processing (please allow 24-48 hours for processing). To be eligible, a student must have and maintain a 2.0 GPA and have no more than 1 F and have good attendance (tardies are considered poor attendance). Grades and attendance are checked each time a progress report is issued (every 6 weeks). By law all working students under the age of 18 must have a work permit unless they have graduated from high school.

**TCHS students who are hired during the summer must have a Work Permit. Print the application above, complete the top portion and have your employer complete the "employer information". Bring the completed application to the TCHS Administration Office Monday - Thursday.**
